MOQ Rules
MOQ Rules let you require minimum quantities for selected products, variants, or collections.
Create an MOQ Rule
1. Choose a rule type
Use Single, Any, or All to decide how requirements inside the rule work together.
2. Add requirements
Select products, variants, or collections and set the minimum quantity for each.
3. Review the rule
Confirm the rule type, requirements, and quantities before saving.
4. Name and save
Give the rule a clear name and choose whether to enable it.
Single, Any, and All
Single rule
One clear MOQ requirement. The customer must satisfy that requirement.
Example: Product A — minimum quantity 6.
Any rule
A rule can contain multiple requirements. The customer only needs to satisfy one applicable requirement inside that rule.
Example: Product A ≥ 6 or Product B ≥ 12.
All rules
A rule can contain multiple requirements. The customer must satisfy every applicable requirement inside that rule.
Example: Product A ≥ 6 and Product B ≥ 12.
Product, variant, and collection requirements
Each requirement targets a product, variant, or collection and has its own minimum quantity.
How multiple enabled rules work
All applicable enabled MOQ rules must be satisfied.
Single, Any, and All control how requirements work together inside one saved MOQ Rule. They are not an outer mode between separate saved rules.
Rules unrelated to the current cart are ignored.
Example configurations
Rule A — Any
- Product 1 ≥ 6
- Product 2 ≥ 2
Rule B — Single
Product 3 ≥ 3
If the cart contains Product 1 only, Rule A applies and Rule B is unrelated. If the cart contains Product 1 and Product 3, both rules apply and both must be satisfied.
Saved-rule status
StoreFlow uses Saved rules and Enabled rules in the merchant interface. A saved rule only affects storefront behavior when the MOQ feature and that rule are enabled.
- Disabled: the MOQ feature setting is off.
- Not active: MOQ is on, but no saved rule is enabled.
- Active: MOQ is on and at least one saved rule is enabled.
Cart and checkout behavior
StoreFlow checks applicable MOQ Rules in the storefront cart, displays StoreFlow warnings when requirements are not met, and blocks StoreFlow-managed checkout controls while the cart is non-compliant.
On supported cart pages, StoreFlow also hides the cart accelerated-checkout container while Minimum Order or MOQ requirements are not met and restores it when the cart becomes compliant. This may include theme- or Shopify-generated Shop Pay, PayPal, Google Pay, or similar cart accelerated-checkout controls.
Shopify-hosted Checkout is separate from the Theme App Extension. Theme code does not hide express-payment methods on the Shopify-hosted Checkout page. Shopify Cart and Checkout Validation provides the server-side enforcement layer for applicable StoreFlow validation rules.
Test your rules
Test each rule with compliant and non-compliant carts, then test combinations of related and unrelated enabled rules. Repeat testing after theme, app, customer-tag, cart, or checkout changes.
Recommended operating range and compatibility
Up to 25 active MOQ rules and up to 50 distinct products per cart are within the current recommended operating range. Larger configurations require additional validation.
StoreFlow is designed for supported Shopify Online Store 2.0 environments, with Dawn and lightly customized themes preferred. Customized cart and checkout experiences may require additional testing.
Troubleshooting
- Confirm the MOQ feature is enabled and the relevant saved rule is enabled.
- Confirm the product, variant, or collection requirement matches the cart.
- Confirm each minimum quantity and the selected Single, Any, or All rule type.
- Confirm StoreFlow Cart Guard is enabled when testing storefront warnings and checkout controls.
- Use Dawn or another minimally customized Online Store 2.0 theme when isolating a theme-specific issue.
