Know what has been validated before going live

StoreFlow Variant Discovery works through a Shopify Theme App Embed and depends on the theme’s product picker, product form, and product-card structure.

Validated structures

Dawn and Horizon

StoreFlow Variant Discovery has been validated with supported Dawn and Horizon structures for:

• Dawn standard Product Pages
• Dawn initial Collection Product Grids
• Dawn standard Featured collection sections
• Horizon standard Product Pages
• Horizon initial Collection Product Grids
• Horizon standard Featured collection sections

Featured collection support is validated for supported standard Dawn and Horizon section structures. Customized or unsupported theme structures may behave differently.

Outside validated structures

Compatibility is not universal

Compatibility varies by theme version, custom theme code, third-party apps, modified product-card structures, and unsupported or custom sections. Other themes and unvalidated storefront surfaces may work differently and are not guaranteed to be compatible.

Unsupported or unconfirmed structures may retain the theme’s native variant presentation instead of using StoreFlow Variant Discovery.

Native fallback and purchasing controls

Unsupported or unconfirmed structures retain the theme’s native presentation whenever possible. Image presentation also requires complete, reliable, non-duplicated image data; otherwise Auto uses another supported presentation.

StoreFlow Variant Discovery focuses on variant presentation and selection synchronization. Your Shopify theme continues to control product forms, native Quick Add or Choose options, Add to cart, cart, and checkout.

Known limitations

Featured Product sections have not been formally validated.

Quick View experiences have not been formally validated.

Search and Predictive Search surfaces have not been formally validated.

Recommendations and Related Products have not been formally validated.

Headless storefronts are not supported.

Vintage themes have not been formally validated.

Third-party variant apps are not guaranteed to be compatible.

Product cards added after filtering, sorting, pagination, or infinite scroll may retain native controls.

RTL layouts have not been formally validated.

Markets and multi-currency behavior do not yet have a formal compatibility matrix.

A formal VoiceOver, NVDA, and JAWS accessibility audit has not been completed.

Test before publishing

Theme versions, customizations, and third-party apps can affect storefront compatibility. Test StoreFlow Variant Discovery on an unpublished theme before enabling it on your published storefront whenever practical. Re-test after theme updates, theme replacement, significant customization, or installation of another variant-related app.

If StoreFlow Variant Discovery does not work correctly with your theme, turn off the App Embed in Shopify’s Theme Editor and save. StoreFlow Variant Discovery controls will stop loading. Verify that the theme’s native variant and purchasing controls work correctly before publishing.
